Current conditions

Expect delays of 45 minutes or longer and temporary closures on Moose-Wilson Road through September 7, 2026, with Death Canyon Road and Trail closed. Bears are active throughout the park, and popular trailheads like Jenny Lake fill early.

[BEAR] Bears are active

Travel in groups of three or more, make noise, carry bear spray, and stay 100 yards from bears. Bears can be near roads, trails, and developed areas.

[ROAD] Moose-Wilson Road work

Moose-Wilson Road can have delays of 45 minutes or longer and temporary closures through Sep 7, 2026. Death Canyon Road and Trail are closed during the project.

[PARK] Jenny Lake parking fills

Jenny Lake and popular trailheads fill early. Arrive early, use the shuttle where available, and never park on the road.

[WILD] Wildlife has the right of way

Expect animals on roads and trails. Stop in a safe place, stay in your vehicle for wildlife viewing, and keep clear of traffic.

Every place lists all five services. Seasonal services may be closed.

Jackson / Moose Entrance ↑

Do this: Buy food, fuel, water, and supplies in Jackson before entering the park.

  • Food: Yes in Jackson; limited near Moose.
  • Water: Yes in town and at developed facilities.
  • Fuel: Yes in Jackson; no dependable fuel at Moose.
  • Signal: Usually good in Jackson; limited near Moose.

Moose is the south gateway and has the main discovery center and park information.

Jenny Lake ↑

Do this: Park early, fill water, and decide on the boat shuttle before starting a trail.

  • Food: Seasonal food and store services near the lodge.
  • Water: Yes at developed facilities when open.
  • Signal: Weak or unreliable.

Parking fills early. The boat shuttle is seasonal and has a separate fee.

Signal Mountain ↑

Do this: Use Signal Mountain or Jackson Lake Junction for a meal and fuel before continuing north.

  • Food: Seasonal lodge, restaurant, and store.
  • Water: Yes at developed facilities when open.
  • Fuel: Seasonal fuel may be available; do not depend on late hours.
  • Signal: Limited or unreliable.

Signal Mountain is the main mid-park service stop on Teton Park Road.

Colter Bay ↑

Do this: Refuel and buy supplies here before exploring the north end or Moran area.

  • Food: Seasonal restaurants, store, and marina services.
  • Water: Yes at developed facilities.
  • Fuel: Yes, seasonal. Check hours.
  • Signal: Limited; service can fail when busy.

Colter Bay is the largest service area in the north half of the park.

Oxbow Bend / Moran Entrance ↑

Do this: Use Jackson Lake Junction or Colter Bay for food, fuel, and water before stopping here.

  • Water: No dependable drinking water.
  • Toilets: Limited at developed pullouts.
  • Signal: Weak or unreliable.

Pullouts fill during wildlife viewing. Stay off the road and keep a clear exit.

Taggart Lake Trailhead ↑

Do this: Arrive early with food and water. Do not wait for a signal to navigate back.

  • Water: No dependable drinking water.
  • Toilets: Yes at the trailhead when open.
  • Signal: Weak or unavailable.

Construction can change trailhead access. Check current conditions before driving here.

Drive times

Summer estimates without long stops. Traffic, wildlife, weather, and road work can cause delays.

Jackson to Moose

Jackson → 15 min → Moose Entrance → 10 min → Craig Thomas Discovery Center

Buy food, fuel, and supplies in Jackson before driving north.

Moose to Jenny Lake

Moose → 15 min → Jenny Lake Visitor Center / boat dock

The parking lot fills early. The road is slow near trailheads and wildlife.

Moose to Jackson Lake Junction

Moose → 40 min → Signal Mountain Junction → 15 min → Jackson Lake Junction

Road work and wildlife can add time. Check current road status before leaving Moose.

Jackson Lake Junction to Colter Bay

Jackson Lake Junction → 25 min → Colter Bay Village

Colter Bay is the north-side service stop for food, fuel, and camping.

Permits

Entrance pass

An entrance pass is required. It does not reserve parking, a boat seat, or a campsite.

Camping

Reserve a campground before arriving when reservations are required. Campgrounds can fill before noon.

Overnight backcountry trips require a permit. Carry a bear canister where required and store food correctly.
