October is fall in Yosemite. Most park areas stay open, but high-elevation services wind down and weather becomes variable.

- Area access: All park areas usually remain open through October and sometimes into November, but short-term snow closures can occur.
- Tioga Road parking: Overnight parking on Tioga Road is not permitted after October 14.
- Waterfalls: Yosemite Falls is often dry in fall. Vernal Fall, Nevada Fall, and Bridalveil Fall continue with low flow.
Should you plan to cross the Sierra on Tioga Road in October?
Do not count on Tioga Road services after September. Overnight parking on Tioga Road is not permitted after October 14. Yosemite Valley and Wawona stay open by car all year, but carry tire chains when conditions require them.
