PLANNING

Planning pages

Planning pages answer trip questions that the offline field guide does not cover on its own: whether a permit is required, which entrance to use, what a month is usually like, or where cell service drops out. Each page focuses on one decision so you can read it before you leave home.

Every fact on a planning page is checked against official National Park Service or Recreation.gov sources listed on that page. np.guide shows a Checked date when those sources were last read. When monitors find no change, the checked date moves forward without altering the facts. When a source changes, the page is reviewed before the live text updates.

Use the field guide at /<park> for services, drive times, alerts, and offline use in the park. Use planning pages when you need a clear yes-or-no or comparison before you go. Pages below are grouped by park. Open the field guide for current conditions, then open a planning page for the topic you are deciding.

Planning pages stay network-only in version 1 so permit and reservation answers do not compete with offline field guides in your browser cache.
