Grand Teton National Park: Grand Teton road closures and conditions: winter 2026–27
Grand Teton National Park (GTNP)
Grand Teton National Park is open 24 hours every day, year-round. U.S. Highway 89/191 and U.S. Highway 26/287 stay plowed for winter travel between Jackson and Flagg Ranch. Teton Park Road and Moose-Wilson Road close to vehicles on November 1 each year; other park roads close seasonally when conditions require it.
Checked .
- Park hours: Grand Teton National Park is open 24 hours every day, year-round.
- Plowed highways: U.S. Highway 89/191 and U.S. Highway 26/287 are plowed and open for winter travel from Jackson to Flagg Ranch just south of Yellowstone National Park.
- Teton Park Road winter closure: Teton Park Road is closed to vehicles from November 1 through April 30 from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge. When free of snow, the road is open to biking from November 1 until it is snow covered; NPS grooms it for skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking from mid-December through mid-March.
- Moose-Wilson Road winter closure: Moose-Wilson Road is closed to vehicles from November 1 until mid-May based on conditions and is unplowed from Death Canyon Road to Granite Canyon Trailhead. When snow allows, NPS opens it to skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.
- Secondary roads: Antelope Flats, Deadmans Bar, Grassy Lake, Pilgrim Creek, Schwabacher, and Two Ocean roads close seasonally based on conditions.
- Construction through late 2026: As of September 28, 2026, NPS lists U.S. Highway 26/89/191 south of Moran Junction with about 20-minute delays through December 2026; Death Canyon Road and Trailhead closed to all use; Moose-Wilson Road closed between Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve and Moose through November 15, 2026; and up to 20-minute delays at the Teton Park Road roundabout at Moose Entrance Station through November 15, 2026, not including entrance station wait time.
Can you drive to Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, or Moose in winter?
In winter you can still reach Moose and Jenny Lake by car when park roads are open to wheeled traffic. NPS closes Teton Park Road to vehicles from November 1 through April 30 from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge, so you cannot drive through that middle section or reach Signal Mountain Lodge from the south through the park. From the north, U.S. 89/191 and the Outer Park Road remain the plowed route toward Flagg Ranch and Yellowstone; check NPS for whether you can reach Signal Mountain Lodge from Colter Bay without entering the closed segment. Moose-Wilson Road closes to vehicles from November 1 until mid-May based on conditions and is unplowed from Death Canyon Road to Granite Canyon Trailhead, so do not count on Moose-Wilson for winter access to Moose or Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve. Before you go, confirm today's openings on the NPS road status map and Wyoming road reports.
