Current conditions
Teton Park Road closes to vehicles Nov 1 between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge, and Moose-Wilson Road closes Nov 1. Until then, Moose-Wilson Road (LSR Preserve to Moose) and Death Canyon Road are closed for construction, and US 26/89/191 south of Moran has 20-minute delays. Craig Thomas Visitor Center is open through Oct 31. Campgrounds and park gas stations are closed for the season; fuel up in Jackson. Bears are active—travel in groups, make noise, and carry bear spray.
[ROAD] Winter road closures start Nov 1
NPS: Teton Park Road is closed to vehicles Nov 1–Apr 30 between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge. Moose-Wilson Road closes Nov 1 and is unplowed from Death Canyon Road to Granite Canyon Trailhead. Bikes, walkers, and leashed pets can use Teton Park Road from Nov 1 until it is snow covered. Most lodges, campgrounds, and visitor centers are closed for the season.
[ROAD] US 26/89/191 construction near Moran
NPS: Expect 20-minute delays in both directions on US Hwy 26/89/191 south of Moran Junction. Traffic is controlled by a temporary stop light with one alternating lane. Work is scheduled October–December 2026.
[ROAD] Moose-Wilson Road closed
Moose-Wilson Road is closed to all use between the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve and Moose through November 15, 2026, for construction. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes at the new Teton Park Road roundabout near the Moose Entrance Station.
[X] Death Canyon Road and Trailhead closed
Death Canyon Road and Trailhead are closed to all use for construction. Start hikes at Granite Canyon, the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve, or Taggart Lake. Parking at the preserve is limited.
[PARK] Jenny Lake services closed for the season
Jenny Lake Visitor Center closed for the season Oct 12, the general store Oct 4, and the boat shuttle Sep 30. Park only in marked spaces and never on the road.
[PARK] Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center
NPS: Open daily 9 am–5 pm through Oct 31 for visitor information, permits, and passes. Closed for winter Nov 1, 2026–Apr 9, 2027. Jenny Lake, Colter Bay, and Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve visitor centers are already closed for the season.
[PARK] No fuel inside the park
NPS: Park gas stations are closed for the season: Colter Bay (closed Oct 9), Signal Mountain (Oct 11), and Headwaters at Flagg Ranch (Oct 18). Fill up in Jackson before driving into the park, and carry winter supplies.
[WILD] Wildlife has the right of way
Expect animals on roads and trails. Stop in a safe place, stay in your vehicle for wildlife viewing, and keep clear of traffic.

Permits
Hours and entrance fees
Grand Teton National Park is open 24 hours every day, year-round. 7-day pass: $35 per vehicle, $30 per motorcycle, $20 per person. Grand Teton annual pass: $70. America the Beautiful pass: $80 for US residents, $250 for non-US residents. Non-US residents 16+ also pay $100 per person unless they hold an annual or America the Beautiful pass. Card only. No vehicle reservation is needed.
Camping
All park campgrounds are closed for the 2026 season; Gros Ventre, the last to close, closed Oct 10. When open, every site is reservation-only on Recreation.gov, up to six months ahead. Sleeping in vehicles is not allowed in pullouts, parking areas, or anywhere outside a designated campground.
Backcountry camping
Overnight backcountry trips require a permit. Carry a bear canister where required and store food correctly.
Boating
Motorized and non-motorized watercraft require the correct park permit and inspection.
Short hikes
Distances are one way unless marked as a loop. Check trail closures.
- Jenny Lake / Hidden Falls: 5 mi round trip. The Jenny Lake boat shuttle closed for the season Sep 30, so walk the full trail around the lake.
- Jenny Lake / Jenny Lake Loop: 7.1 mi loop. A longer lakeshore route with uneven trail and wildlife.
- Taggart Lake / Taggart Lake: 5.6 mi round trip. The trailhead is partly open during construction, and the northern trail segment is closed until winter recreation begins. Parking is limited.
- Colter Bay / Lakeshore Trail: 2 mi loop. An easier shoreline walk near services.
- Oxbow Bend / Cattleman's Bridge: 1.5 mi round trip. A short route near water and wildlife. Keep distance from animals.
