Bears are active near roads, trails, and developed areas, so travel in groups of three or more and carry bear spray. Expect delays and closures on Moose-Wilson Road and Death Canyon Road and Trail due to ongoing construction.
[ROAD] Moose-Wilson Road work
The northern section of Moose-Wilson Road between the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve and Moose reopens to through traffic on June 19, 2026. The road can have delays of 45 minutes or longer and temporary closures through Sep 7, 2026. Death Canyon Road and Trail are closed during the project.
[PARK] Jenny Lake parking fills
Jenny Lake and popular trailheads fill early. Arrive early, use the shuttle where available, and never park on the road.
[WILD] Wildlife has the right of way
Expect animals on roads and trails. Stop in a safe place, stay in your vehicle for wildlife viewing, and keep clear of traffic.

Parking fills early. The boat shuttle is seasonal and has a separate fee.
Signal Mountain ↑
Do this: Use Signal Mountain or Jackson Lake Junction for a meal and fuel before continuing north.

- Fuel: Seasonal fuel may be available; do not depend on late hours.
- Signal: Limited or unreliable.
Signal Mountain is the main mid-park service stop on Teton Park Road.
Colter Bay ↑
Do this: Refuel and buy supplies here before exploring the north end or Moran area.

Colter Bay is the largest service area in the north half of the park.

- Mormon Row — Bring water and use Moose for food, toilets, and other services. Park only in designated areas. This historic district is reached from Antelope Flats Road on the east side of the park.

Road work and wildlife can add time. Check current road status before leaving Moose.
Jackson Lake Junction to Colter Bay
Jackson Lake Junction → 25 min → Colter Bay Village
Colter Bay is the north-side service stop for food, fuel, and camping.

Permits
Entrance pass
An entrance pass is required. It does not reserve parking, a boat seat, or a campsite.
Camping
Reserve a campground before arriving when reservations are required. Campgrounds can fill before noon.
Backcountry camping
Overnight backcountry trips require a permit. Carry a bear canister where required and store food correctly.
Boating
Motorized and non-motorized watercraft require the correct park permit and inspection.
Short hikes
Distances are one way unless marked as a loop. Check trail closures.
- Jenny Lake / Hidden Falls: 5 mi round trip. The boat shuttle can shorten the walk when operating.
- Jenny Lake / Jenny Lake Loop: 7.1 mi loop. A longer lakeshore route with uneven trail and wildlife.
- Taggart Lake / Taggart Lake: 5.6 mi round trip. Trailhead parking fills early and construction may change access.
- Colter Bay / Lakeshore Trail: 2 mi loop. An easier shoreline walk near services.
- Oxbow Bend / Cattleman's Bridge: 1.5 mi round trip. A short route near water and wildlife. Keep distance from animals.
