The Grand Lake entrance is the west-side gate to Rocky Mountain National Park. It sits about two miles north of the town of Grand Lake, Colorado.

- Entrance location: The Grand Lake Entrance Station is on the west side of the park, about two miles north of Grand Lake.
- Timed Entry window: Timed Entry permits are required daily from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm from May 22 through October 12, 2026.
- Trail Ridge Road: Trail Ridge Road connects Grand Lake with the east side during the summer season. Check the current NPS road status before planning through travel.
Do you need a timed entry permit at the Grand Lake entrance?
For a west-side visit from Grand Lake, use the Timed Entry permit that excludes Bear Lake Road. It is required from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, May 22 through October 12, 2026. The Timed Entry+ Bear Lake Road permit also covers the west side, but Bear Lake Road is on the east side near Beaver Meadows. A separate park entrance pass is also required.
